IBIE (also known as Baking Expo) ™) Originating from the flourishing 1920s, during the prosperous period after World War I. Sliced bread has just been launched, toasters and bread mixers have swept across the United States, and the first gas oven is replacing coal stoves in professional kitchens, helping the baking industry rise. In 1920, two years after the establishment of BEMA, the association convened the entire industry to hold a national exposition at the Million Dollar Pier in Atlantic City, giving birth to the idea of an annual gathering. ABA joined BEMA as a co sponsor of the event in 1949, when the debut of the extruder aimed to simplify production and the factory shifted its focus to meeting the growing consumer demand stimulated by the post World War II economic boom.
The largest event in the Western Hemisphere grain food industry is jointly owned and hosted by BEMA and the American Bakers Association (ABA), with support from the Retail Bakers Association (RBA) of the United States. The International Baking Industry Expo (IBIE) is held every three years in Las Vegas, bringing together various links in the supply chain and the professional baking industry, aiming to cultivate the next generation of bakers, promote economic growth, educate and drive the future of baking. All profits from this non-profit activity will be reinvested into the industry.
IBIE is known as the 'work show', conducting millions of dollars in business every day. It connects the global baking ecosystem and showcases a full range of equipment, supply, and ingredient solutions, as well as new baking technologies, in a space of one million square feet. Nowadays, IBIE is the primary activity for BEMA members.
